Privacy notice
This notice explains what happens to the information you give me through the Customer Learning Assessment on this site. I'm Matt Shroyer, and I'm responsible for it. If you have a question, email me at matt@mattshroyer.com.
What I collect
- Your contact details: name, work email, organization, role, and phone number if you choose to give it.
- Your assessment answers, including anything you write in the free-text fields and your shelf-life estimate.
- Basic technical information: a one-way hash of your IP address (I can't recover the address from it), your browser's user agent, and the time you started and submitted. I use these to prevent spam and abuse.
Before you submit
While you work through the assessment, your answers are saved only in your own browser so you can stop and come back. Nothing reaches me until you choose to submit. You can clear the saved answers at any time from the results page or by clearing your browser's site data.
How I use it
- To review your answers and prepare for a conversation with you about them.
- To contact you about scheduling that conversation and any proposal that follows from it.
- To check that submissions come from real people and organizations.
- To improve the assessment itself.
I don't sell your information, and I don't add you to a mailing list.
Use of AI tools
I may use AI tools, such as Claude by Anthropic, to help me review your answers and prepare for our conversation. When I do, I share your answers and organization details with that tool for that purpose only. Automated checks that use simple rules, not AI, also review each submission for signs of spam.
Who else handles it
I use a small number of service providers to run the assessment. They process your information on my behalf:
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores submissions, and runs the Turnstile check that helps tell people from automated traffic.
- Resend delivers the email that notifies me of your submission.
- Apple iCloud hosts my email inbox, where that notification is received.
- Anthropic, when I use Claude as described above.
I may also share information if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Submissions are deleted automatically 24 months after you submit, unless we're working together and you ask me to keep them longer. You can ask me to delete them sooner at any time. Copies in my email inbox are deleted on the same schedule.
Your choices
You can ask me to show you, correct, or delete the information you submitted. Email matt@mattshroyer.com and I'll respond within 30 days.
Children
The assessment is meant for professionals. It isn't directed at anyone under 18, and I don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
